Who: Penny Grossenbacher, principal and owner
Background: Interior design degree, with over 25 years experience in commercial interior design, facilities management and project management.
My passion with art started early. I took every possible art class throughout high school and college, and spent much of my free time painting, sketching, or taking extra art classes on the weekends. I taught a course for a local college in Architectural Delineation, which was one of my favorite college classes as a student.
I began my professional career as a commercial interior designer with a furniture dealer in Nebraska, where I designed and managed the new showroom construction and company relocation. Then, I moved to a furniture dealer in Kansas before being hired as senior facility planner for the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, and for the next 10 years was responsible for major renovations. The next 14 years, I spent as director of facilities at U. S. Central Federal Credit Union. Besides my responsibilities for the facility management department, I was the project manager for the construction of U.S. Central's 128,000 sq. ft. headquarters building. As with many companies hard hit in 2008, U.S. Central would soon close which allowed the opportunity to rekindle my true passion - ART! I worked for a gallery for a year learning the business, but continually found my clients wanted more than what just one gallery could offer.
I started Art Solutions & Facility Services, where I partner with excellent suppliers who value quality, customer service and fair pricing. By blending my project management skills with professional business practices, I provide my clients with what THEY want. And, without the overhead of a brick-and-mortor gallery, I pass my low costs on to my customers. I have wonderful relationships with many talented artists and a wide network of poster art and Giclee reproduction resources. I also have great relationships with a large variety of galleries, so my options are endless. With my strong attention to detail, I continue to consult on facilities and project management opportunities, regardless if they center around art.
Philanthropy - I am working with a great Kansas City area organization, Sheffield Place, helping provide long term homeless shelter for women and children. During their annual 'Off-The-Wall' fund raising event, I am able to donate my own original artwork, some of my company artwork, as well as my time to help this very worthy cause.
It is a privilege to help my clients complete their projects. I am blessed with doing what I love to do each day!
